Discipleship

The Discipleship Committee is a standing committee that gathers and disseminates information about ministries and events devoted to discipleship. The committee:

  1. Vets and promotes access to existing national and regional Christian ministries;
  2. Finds out what teaching and equipping ministries are flourishing in the member congregations that might beneficially be shared with other member congregations;
  3. promotes and facilitates the sharing of ministries among the member congregations and, when desirable, combining such ministries;
  4. Maintains an active data base, including the names and contact information of the people involved in various ministries, and
  5. Vets any ministries that seek the Diocese's imprimatur, so that the Executive Committee can make informed judgments about them.

The guideline for the Discipleship Committee is the principle that ministry arises in the congregations and is not to be imposed from above. The Scriptural model for Discipleship is 2 Cor 13:9  Our prayer is for you perfection.
